Half the names on the list had already been crossed off. Two were too old, three were vegetarians and one had recently died. He was particularly upset about that one because she’d looked like an ideal candidate. He still wasn’t convinced that her untimely death was the accident it was reported to have been, something he would need to investigate once this process was completed. He looked at the prone figure of Susan Knight, the seventh name on his list. She looked healthy and was the right age. All he needed now was to check her blood was pure enough.
