A delightful picture from Rochelle over at Friday Fictioneers for this week’s prompt for a 100 word story.

Who’s Coming Buster?

“They’re coming kid. Best go get your mum.”

“Who’s coming Buster? What can you see?”

“Monsters kid. Huge, ugly-looking monsters. Hundreds of them and they look mean and hungry. Now go get your mum and be quick!”

When Billy came back, dragging his mum with him, it was too late. The old tree was gone and so was Buster. In their place stood a group of monstrous creatures.

They stared down at the two strange human creatures and licked their lips. Would this insatiable quest of theirs for fresh meat ever be satisfied, they wondered? Probably not.

Mum screamed.

  1. If Billy and his mum are the entrée, I guess that means Buster and the tree were the mixed greens salad course?

Great little horror story to start the new year 🙂

    1. I’m not sure locking the door would’ve helped – mind you, it would have been more sensible than staying up a tree!
