Three Haiku For Haiku Heights

Written for Haiku Heights where the prompt is ‘Squeeze’

she squeezes my hand,
tears trickling down her cheeks –
my first day at school

I squeeze her frail hand,
kiss her lips, whisper goodbye –
the light slowly dims

his hands at my throat
squeezing the life out of me –
I reach for the knife

  1. The first two poems seem like bookends a mother squeezing a child’s hand as he leaves for school and then the child, now grown, squeezing her hand as she leaves the world. Beautiful!
