‘And You Are?’ – A 100 Word Story For Friday Fictioneers

I’ve spent a while looking at this week’s picture from ‘Friday Fictioneers’ before I came up with this 100 word story.

And You Are?

What is it with people nowadays? If you don’t fit neatly into one of their pigeon holes, don’t measure up against society’s out dated notions of what constitutes ‘normal’, then you must be a misfit. A deviant even. Someone who shouldn’t be allowed to live near ‘normal folk’. Such foolish hypocrisy. When I look at you I thank God for his creative design, his inventiveness, that wonderful sense of humour of his. To me, my friend, it is your very quirkiness that I find so appealing. That head, those ears, the two legs, two arms and delightful fingers.  Absolutely exquisite!

  1. This is a wonderful story, and to learn in the last line that it is written in the voice of the creature in the photo, is genius. The creature is right, of course. Humans do not fit in with the rest of the animal world. Not just because of our “delightful fingers” but also, unfortunately, our big stupid brains.

I look forward to reading your comments
