It’s Time – A 33 Word Story For Trifecta

The Trifecta weekend writing prompt,  leaves much to interpretation: “As you’ll recall from your elementary science class days, the structure of the earth can be divided most simply into three sections: core, mantle, crust.  Give us 33 words from it.  Interpret the prompt however you wish–literal, metaphorical, or somewhere in between.”

This is my take:

It’s Time

For centuries the creature waited patiently, resting, feeding, growing, deep inside the Earth’s core. Now, its masters were calling. Once it broke through the crust, mankind’s demise would be both swift and bloody.

  1. That’s kinda like having a baby, isn’t it? Growing, feeding, waiting inside until “called” and then destroying all life as it existed prior to its’ arrival. Yup! Exactly the same thing! 🙂

  2. Um, living in earthquake country as I do, I’m wondering if there’s more to worry about than just my house coming off its foundation someday… Very creepy – in a good way.

    1. Thanks for your comments Christine. If I were you I’d worry – somethings’s got to be making these earthquakes happen – hasn’t it?

I look forward to reading your comments
