The Shadows Are Alive

It seems such a long time since I wrote a story for Inspiration Monday‘. Stephanie’s prompts this week got me thinking and I came up with this drabble (exactly 100 words). Maybe one to read to the children at bedtime!

The Shadows Are Alive

Our world is one of half-light and shadows. When you can’t quite make out that shape across the room, that’s us, watching you. When you catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of your eye, that’s us, following you. When the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, that’s us, whispering about you. As you lie in your bed you know we’re here. Your mum told you it was just your imagination, a trick of the light, but you know she’s wrong. The shadows in your bedroom are alive and tonight we are coming for you.
