Winter Haiku

Day 17 of the Haiku Heights September Challenge – prompt ‘Winter’

footprints in the snow
cold land yield no sustenance
some will not survive

the first snowflake falls
followed by another, then more
winter’s artistry

icy winter winds
drive everyone underground
hibernation time

left on the back lawn
one scarf, two black eyes, carrot nose
our snowman left town

Now that I'm retired I have more time to devote to writing my blog and creating short stories.
