Haiku – Patience

Haiku Heights – day 15 of the September Challenge – prompt ‘Patience’. Today I have abandoned the strict 5-7-5 syllable count.

learning
to speak again –
patiently

~~

patience –
a virtue
she doesn’t possess

~~

spring bulbs
deep in the cold ground
waiting patiently

    1. Thanks for your comments Melanie. Glad you enjoyed them.
I’m a novice at Haiku but have been reading some interesting Haiku sites about modern, contemporary Haiku. There is obviously a lot of debate between keeping to the stricter 5-7-5 syllable count and not. At the moment I’m enjoying both – I think the 5-7-5 structure is challenging and at the same time the more ‘free’ modern approach is fun and something different.
      I wonder what others think?

  1. A great set of verses, Mike. A friend of mine is recently recovered from multiple surgeries and two months in a medically induced coma. She had to retrain her muscles after all that time in bed, and it took great patience not to get frustrated and depressed.
